Arsenal new boy Emmanuel Adebayor has confirmed recent speculation that Tottenham made a late bid to sign him.
The ex-Monaco striker was also a target for West Ham but opted to link up with Arsene Wenger after long being admired by the Highbury boss.

"Both on a sporting and financial level, I could not dream for more for my career after Monaco.
"A lot of clubs have contacted me during the last few weeks but Arsenal have always been my priority.
"The Gunners already made an offer for me late in August. I even talked myself with [vice-] chairman David Dein some days ago.
"He told me I was one of the major aims for Arsenal for the winter transfer window. It was dear to my heart.
"Other clubs like Tottenham and West Ham also wanted me. I met a Tottenham official last Friday morning.
"But my heart was already at Arsenal.
